This is the key question for anyone who has found this website. Do you need an indoor bicycle trainer to help you maintain your competitive edge? Well it all depends. To answer this question you need to ask yourself what goals you have, what you want to get out of your cycling and I suppose why you are on a bike.
Well then, why did I get an indoor bicycle trainer?
I have my own bicycle trainer. I’m not a competitive rider but rider with my club to keep fit and benefit from the social side that this brings. I also like my food and being over forty need to keep an eye on my weight.
Cycling helps my fitness and having an indoor bicycle trainer helps me keep going through the dark and cold winter months. I suppose I could go to a gym and use a stationary bike, one the many exercise bikes that sit along the treadmills, but that’s not for me. I like my racing bike and like riding it at home during the winter.
So if your goals are the same as mine then an indoor bike trainer would be good for you.
An indoor bicycle trainer for the professional?
For competitive cyclists all year training is a must. I remember seeing a documentary about Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins using an indoor bicycle trainer in a rather large shed in his garden. So for cyclists who are serious about what they do, want to train for an upcoming race or tour, or simply want to avoid riding in treacherous conditions having a bicycle trainer is a great idea.
Only you can decide if you NEED a bicycle trainer, but for many it is an essential piece of equipment for them. If like me you are in a club and want to try one, why not find out if another member can lead you one for a weekend. It doesn’t matter if it is an expensive Cyclops Fluid 2 trainer or a simple bike roller give it a try.
If you want to go ahead and buy one I hope the research and reviews found here can help you. We offer a range of Indoor Bicycle Trainer reviews covering Fluid trainers, magnetic bike trainers and Bike Rollers.
